Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett endorsed four candidates in the Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education race Wednesday.
“I respectfully ask that you join me in voting for the following Board of Ed candidates,” Leggett said.
Leggett endorsed Karla Silvestre, Judy Docca, Patricia O’Neill and Brenda Wolff in the Board of Education race.
Silvestre is running for at-large. Docca and O’Neill are the incumbents for District 1 and District 3 seats, respectively. Wolff is running unopposed for District 5.
The County Board of Education elections are non-partisan.
If elected, O’Neill will serve a sixth term on the Board.
During the primary election, O’Neill and fellow District 3 candidate Lynn Amano earned the most votes among a total of three candidates. Silvestre and fellow at-Large candidate Julie Reiley earned the second-highest and highest numbers of votes among three candidates during the general election, respectively.
District 1 incumbent Docca and candidate Maria Blaeuer proceeded straight to the general election without a primary, since they were the only two candidates for the seat.
