GERMANTOWN — Friday night’s game football between the Northwest Jaguars and the Wootton Patriots was postponed because of lightning.
According to regulations, high school sporting events must be delayed for at least 30 minutes, for each time lightning is spotted in the area. Persistent lightning throughout the evening led to officials deciding to postpone the game until 10 a.m. Saturday.
There was no score, before officials delayed the game late in the first quarter.
Just before the game was delayed, Jaguars defensive back Roderick James intercepted Wootton quarterback Noel Miller, giving Northwest the ball at the Patriots’ 17-yard line. The Jaguars were unable to score before the lightning delay, leaving the score locked at 0-0 late in the first quarter.
