A recent track star who hails from Olney will join the University of Dayton’s track and field and cross country staff while enrolling as a master’s student.
Grace McDonald of Olney, University of Dayton’s graduating class of 2018, will work for track and field and cross country director Jason Orway as director of operations.
“I’m incredibly grateful and excited to be a part of the team here. I loved my four years with the program and am excited to start another chapter in a different role,” said McDonald. “I know this will be a great opportunity to grow and give back to athletics, and I’m thankful to everyone who made this possible.”
She is enrolled in the graduate program for a master of business administration and will work full time at Dayton.
A Lady Flyer who earned multiple accolades as a runner for the University of Dayton, McDonald will help with travel logistics, nutrition and scheduling.
McDonald ran the second-fastest times at the school for indoor track and field 800-meter run, indoor 1000m run and 800m run for outdoor track and field. She completed on the track and field and cross country teams all four years of college at Dayton.
She was a member of the 2017 women’s cross country team that won the Atlantic 10 Championship. She was a 2016 Atlantic 10 all-conference honoree in outdoor track.
McDonald’s familiarity with the track and field and cross country program made her an attractive candidate, Ordway said.
“We are pleased to announce the addition of Grace McDonald to our track and field and cross country staff,” said Ordway. “She is an incredibly talented individual that understands our vision for the program and how we operate on a day-to-day basis. Grace was a vital asset during my transitional first year and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to add her to our staff.”
