The Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League announced for the week of June 11-June 17 the Baltimore Dodgers’ Jason Reynolds as Pitcher of the Week and the Bethesda Big Train’s Alec Burleson as Offensive Player of the Week.
Reynolds struck out 15 batters in 12 innings of work while allowing seven hits and just one earned run over the span. He picked up two wins over the Giants and T-Bolts. Reynolds is currently a rising junior at Lehigh University. His hometown is Erial, New Jersey.
Although Burleson is a pitcher as well, he is also a two-way player, and has helped the Big Train in achieving their 10-1 record. This past week, Burleson had a .529 batting average while hitting four home runs, three doubles, and 12 runs batted in. He is currently a rising sophomore at East Carolina University, as well as a resident of Stanley, North Carolina.
In terms of the Montgomery Cup involving the four MoCo teams in the league, the Big Train lead the standings with a record of 4-1, the Giants and T-Bolts are tied for second with records of 2-1, and the Express are at the bottom at 0-5.
