Silver Spring officers have arrested three people for alleged possession of a Tec-9 semiautomatic pistol.
Kermit Burton, 26, of Hyattsville, Michael Warren, 29, of Silver Spring, and Joy Samuels, 26, of Burtonsville were charged with handgun offenses, according to the Montgomery County news release.
On Aug. 11, police said, they were conducting a routine traffic stop in the area of Georgia Avenue and Spring Street when they asked Warren and Burton to exit the car. Burton allegedly fled after getting out of the car and was caught in the 8700 block of Colesville Road.
Police found a black Tec-9 semi-automatic pistol on the floorboard where Burton was sitting, officers said.
The release said the gun was partially covered by a hat.
According to police, the serial number was missing and officers found a loaded 9mm magazine on the floorboard.
Burton, Warren and Samuels were taken to the Central Processing Unit in Rockville, police said.
Burton is being held without bond, according to the release. Warren was released after posting $5,000 bond, and Samuels was released after posting $3,500 bond, the release stated.
