WHEATON – An 18-year-old woman has sustained serious but apparently not life-threatening injuries after being shot multiple times early Wednesday morning in Wheaton.
Just before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, a 911 operator from Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center received a call with sounds of a woman in distress.
The call was determined to be originating from the area of Plyers Mill Road and Douglas Avenue in Wheaton. Shortly thereafter officers learned that the victim was at a local hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According from a press release from the county police department’s public information officer, the victim was walking with a group of women in the area of Plyers Mill Road and Douglas Avenue when they were met by male subjects.
